Huashan area is designated a leisure agricultural reservation since 1996. Many different kinds of business are run inside the reservation. Huashan coffee, for example, is one of the most famous industries in Taiwan. The coffee industries are developed well in Huashan because of its rich local landscape resources, cultural resources, and ecological environment, and the development also promotes local leisure and tourism business. The Taiwan Coffee Festival has been held since 2003. Local businesses are more diverse overall through the coffee visibility and current marketing channels, such as agricultural products, cultivation of leisure, eco-tourism, B&B, and restaurants. This creates an image of a coffee themed leisure village for Huashan, and this is also the reason people call Huashan the hometown of Taiwan Coffee.
The theme of the year is “Coffee Fragrance.” The event will be held at Huashan Elementary School in conjunction with the theme of Coffee Festival in 2014, the coffee-themed manors that provide tourists diverse experiences, such as coffee cultivation and management, coffee bean harvesting, shelling, baking, and brewing. Tourists can have fun with DIY activities and other interesting and educational activities. Local organizations promote agricultural products through marketing and publicity. For example, using coffee packages to promote and make leisure agriculture popular in Huashan and help local development more rapidly. Moreover, the Green Tunnel is the façade of Gukeng Township. Many people have visited here, and in order to attract more people to attend the Coffee Festival, local organizations will guide tourists to the festival location to join different activities.
